While Peace…Like A River was recorded by Haynes (guitar, vocals), Matt Abts (drums), Danny Louis (keys), and Jorgen Carlsson (bass) during the same sessions that produced Gov’t Mule’s Grammy-nominated 2021 LP, Heavy Load Blues, the albums were created in different rooms with no shared gear or instruments in an attempt to maintain the unique character and identity of the two concurrent projects. So how were they as a band? Were they a seriously good band or were they just a one hit wonder who may have made an album to surround the song with? I'd have to think a decent master of anything they did would be hard to find on CD (with the exception of the Have A Nice Day-Super Hits of the '70s comp I have that has it).Gov’t Mule has released Peace…Like A River, the 12th studio album by the Warren Haynes-led rock outfit. ![]() So, with that being said, I only really know King Harvest for that one song of theirs. I felt that way when I was in 5th Grade listening to this song for the first time and I feel the same way now as a 43 year old. I just wish life could be as things appear to be in the song. It's just the feeling of peaceful bliss in a pastoral sense which endears me so much to it in the first place. When I listen to "Dancing in the Moonlight", I think of the way I've always wanted myself to be. I've held this song close to me ever since I first heard it released as a single back in late '72 and into early '73.Īs life gets more complicated as we grow older, we sometimes find ourselves having certain elements of ourselves turning into something we don't want it to be. It does, however, get me to thinking about how much I dearly love this song for it's simplicity in spirit. Those of you who watch television have, in all liklihood, noticed that somebody is running King Harvest's "Dancing in the Moonlight" during a commercial. ![]()
